Around here, we are fans of all things all-America: apple pie, Grandma, and—of course—baseball.

So naturally, we were intrigued to hear the details of one of this week’s biggest real estate stories: major-league legend Pete Rose sold his Sherman Oaks, CA, home for $1.9 million—for a reported profit of $1 million.

Rose's six-bedroom, four-bathroom home isn’t the kind of palace just purchased by Kanye and Kim, but it is very nice.

It’s a hybrid contemporary Spanish number with gleaming maple hardwoods throughout, a curious blend of angles and curves in its interior, and lots of natural light washing over the place from skylights and copious picture windows.

With a Kosher kitchen—replete with custom cabinetry, two dishwashers, three sinks, and three ovens—we could bake a lot of the aforementioned apple pie in there with Grandma.

Outside, there’s an outdoor kitchen and dining area—not to mention a bar that sits right next to the free-form custom pool and spa.

All this is located right smack dab in the heart of everything and just minutes from downtown Los Angeles, so whoever the buyer was scored a pretty sweet steal—a real estate hit, so to speak.

Pete Rose is the all-time MLB leader in hits, games played, at-bats and singles. He was a key cog on three World Series championship teams, won three batting titles, and made a whopping 17 All-Star appearances over his 24-year playing career.
