Retired L.A. Dodger Matt Kemp Puts Custom Texas Home on the Market for $6.5 Million

Retired Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp is selling his Texas mansion for $6.5 million, in what could set a benchmark price for the town of Celina.

The Oklahoma-born three-time All-Starr built his serene sports-filled pad with a batting cage and a barbershop corner, in the town, about an hour north of Dallas, in 2023.

Kemp, who recently retired as a player to become an adviser for the Dodgers, listed his house Friday as he’s moving to another area in Texas, according to listing agent Heather Stevens at the Agency. Kemp, 40, could not immediately be reached for a comment.

His 11,000-square-foot cul-de-sac home is on a 5.5-acre plot that includes a backyard with a pool and putting green and a man-made pond beyond. It would set a sales record for the town if it closed for its asking price, according to the Agency. Though it’s not the only home vying for the title, as there are two other listings in Celina asking more, including a nearly $9 million mansion, according to Zillow.

Kemp has become a mentor for young players, even using his backyard to train them, Stevens said.

During the MLB lockout in 2022, players relied on Kemp’s fitness center about 20 minutes away in Frisco, Texas, to keep in shape.
